Job Description

Our client produce multiple types of joinery for the high-end residential housing market, as a Woodwork Machinist you will be responsible for selecting and machining multiple materials to assist our Bench Joiners in completing the manufacturing process.MACHINING

  • Taking cutting sheets from Workshop Managers and working through selecting the best materials to suit projects,
  • Cutting and ripping timber,
  • Plaining timber materials, making sure they are square and true,
  • Spindle moulding different moulding details,
  • Running curved mouldings and frames on a ringfence,
  • Finishing materials under a speed sander,
  • Using edge bander,
  • Ripping and sizing up board materials,
  • Routine machine maintenance,
  • Keeping checks on materials stocks and reporting if low to Workshop Managers,
  • Driving a forklift, training can be given,
  • Assisting with training Apprentices,
  • Working additional time as can be reasonably required and providing additional cover as the Workshop Managers requests
  • Completing timesheets and having them signed off by the appropriate Manager
  • Working in accordance with SHE compliant procedures
  • Taking part in annual health surveillance
  • Taking part in training, inhouse and offsite knowledge, Skills, experience & Behaviours
    • Holds a clean driving licence (desirable)
    • Has experience of working in the construction or manufacturing industry (desirable)
    • Can demonstrate a level-headed and mature approach to using equipment
    • Demonstrates the ability to listen, take instruction and show a willingness to learn
    • Has good mathematical skills and is practically minded
    • Hard working, polite and of tidy appearance
