And its why were the UKs No. 1 choice for business waste management.A quick look at the role:Working in a fast-paced and exciting commodity marketplace, the Recycling Commercial Manager has responsibility for the procurement of recyclable materials from new and existing clients across a full range of businesses from SME to Corporate. You will be personally involved in inspecting, grading and winning high value business for our networkof Transfer Stations in the South within Biffas Industrial & Commercial Division. The successful candidate will be joining an expanding team within a significantly profitable growth area of the business.Why its an opportunity not to be wasted:

  • Organise internal and external transport and collection schedules for material to be taken to Biffa Transfer Stations and Recycling Locations within your geographical area of responsibility and ensure smooth transition of this material into internal stock.
  • Work closely with the Biffa Commodities Trading Team to make sound commercial decisions regarding pricing, allowing you to manage margin performance to specific business goals and P&L performance.
  • Work in collaboration with existing Recycling Commercial Managers and Transfer Station Managers to deliver the ideal solution for the customer at agreed profit levels for Biffa.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing accounts across the South regions to meet service expectations and requirements.
  • Pro-actively identify new customers and secure new business.
  • Making quality compliance inspections of material at customers premises.
  • Exceed targets on performance for secured volume and P&L.
  • Develop strategies with internal teams and individuals to ensure growth through commodity acquisition.
  • Maintain and develop customer and internal relationships to ensure high visibility within the area.
  • Provide regular analysis of customers, market conditions and pricing trends to the Area Manager.
  • Maintain regular contact with the Area Manager and provide regular written and verbal reports on activity, business generation and prospects.
Heres what we require:
  • >5 years business to business sales and account management experience.
  • Experience in waste management would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge & understanding of different grades of commodity would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Understands technical or professional aspects of business, business strategy, and financial analysis.
  • Views issues in terms of costs, profits, markets and added value.
  • Demonstrates sound and viable commercial decision making.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships both internally & externally.
  • Successfully adapts to changing demands and conditions.
  • Resilient and maintains effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks or pressure.
  • Demonstrates a holistic view of issues, events, and activities, with a perception of their longer-term impact or wider implications.
  • Makes systematic, rational, and critical judgements based on relevant information.
  • Must be innovative, self-motivated and willing to travel across the southern area.
  • Able to manage their own workload effectively while keeping to strict deadlines.
