Job Description

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Preclinical Services Manager to work in a research institute with a vision to renovate and restore the quality of a patients life and translate ground-breaking medical research into patient care. The ideal candidatewill need experience creating an excellent pre-clinical facility with scientific and surgical ability. This includes preclinical research for Neurovascular, Orthopaedic, Wound healing, Endoscopic, Biomaterial and Medical device. The post holder will be responsiblefor building and overseeing strategies for the next 3 and 5 years for the growth and scope of pre-clinical studies.Basic Requirements:

  • Post Doctorate level or with a medical or veterinary qualification
  • Experience with medical devices research and commercialisation
  • Knowledge in inputting into and developing protocols
  • Have personal experimental surgical expertise
  • Confidence in managing scientific teams
  • Understanding of GLP and have acted as designated GLP operator
  • To have held a home office licence and operated at Study Director/PI level
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Management experience including overseeing budgets
  • Experience in growing a scientific business
  • The practice of training and developing staff
  • To be confident in working with stakeholders and business development
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To create and oversee a strategy for the next 3 and 5 years for the growth and breadth of pre-clinical studies, setting the framework for the research services provided by the institute and reaching out to potential customers.
  • The majority of this will be developing protocols and testing novel ex-vivo and in-vivo devices aimed to improve surgical outcomes
  • To oversee quality and compliance for the department, which includes acting as Accountable Officer for GLP and ensuring that all requirements under ASPA are met by the department, liaising with the Home Office as necessary
  • To develop surgical device collaborations between Academics, NHS Trusts, SMEs, and other commercial partners.
  • We are forming a bridge between pre-clinical scientific research and training, enabling new products to go to market.
  • Managing the budget for the department, in particular, monitoring and reporting on the income target and pipeline
  • Developing and reporting KPIs to measure the impact of the research and progress in patients
