Job Description

Porter - The Princess Alexandra Hospital, CM20 1QX£10.70/hr (Weekdays) £14.87/hr (Saturdays) & £19.15/hr (Sundays/Bank Holidays)plus, accrued holiday payCould you be a porter and bring your knowledge, personality, and experience to The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust A Trust that recently had outstanding in their CQC reportIf you answered yes, then we would love to hear from you!We require a porter on an ongoing temporary contract to be based at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, CM20 1QX, starting immediately.This is a Band 2 position paying £10.70 per hour - enhanced rates of pay for evenings and weekends.Days: Mondays - Sunday, 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis. Flexible hours to suit.This is an ongoing temporary role and would suit someone looking to join their local NHS hospital or someone looking to earn additional income alongside other employed work.Responsibilities will cover several areas such as:

  • To provide a portering and messenger service, including the transfer of patients and visitors between wards and departments including A&E admissions to wards and transfers between A&E, X-ray, and wards.
  • To collect and deliver a range of goods including, drugs, bloods, furniture, feed bottles, case notes, specimens, x-rays, and medical gas cylinders.
  • To collect and deliver mail within the hospital
  • To operate & maintain waste compound
  • To transfer beds, cots, mattresses, furniture, drip stands, pump and other portable equipment and machinery
  • To ensure safety of staff and visitors
  • The operation of certain machinery such as the computer and associate software
  • To assist in adhering to the correct procedure regarding the removal of deceased persons
  • To maintain confidentiality
The skills required are
  • Happy to be in a fast-paced physical role
  • Eye for detail
  • Food hygiene knowledge
  • A good understanding of spoken and written English.
  • Trained in Manual Handling
