Job Description

POSITION:Paste Manufacturing OperatorSALARY:Starting £9 to £10 per hr which can increase in timeBENEFITS:Company Pension, 25 days Holiday, Workwear suppliedHOURS:8.15am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs, 8.15am to 4pm Fri, 3/4 hr for lunch plus tea breaksLOCATION:Harlow, Essex, CM19 5FDDESCRIPTION:Based in Harlow, Essex, our client is a global leader in brazing and soldering innovation. The company provide automation solutions for manufacturers engaged in production brazing and soldering.In line with their current success and growth, our client is currently looking to recruit aPaste Manufacturing Operatorto join their well-established team.POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Mix and prepare batches of paste, brazing and soldering alloys.
  • Perform required viscosity tests, and accurately maintain paperwork.
  • Adjust paste according to batch sheet specifications.
  • Remix, dispense and package paste for brazing and soldering alloys.
  • Package finished paste products in shipping cartons and prepare for shipping.
  • Triple roll mill binders and fluxes to required specifications.
    • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Mix and prepare samples and batches of paste.
  • Weigh binder and powder per batch sheets and record tare and material weights.
  • Maintain lot history logs and record all batch numbers and powder numbers.
  • Enter all relevant information into computer system.
  • Perform viscosity tests, measure temperature and record results.
  • Perform cross checks for other Paste Manufacturing Operators.
  • Clean paste making equipment as required.
  • Adjust paste according to batch sheet specifications and accurately record temperature, thinner and viscosity.
  • Perform viscosity tests.
  • Mill binders and fluxes.
  • Pack paste and powders into pots, cartridges or buckets ensuring correct weights, labels and containers are used.
  • De-gas and vacuum pack if applicable.
  • Make cartons or assemble shipping crates when necessary.
  • Prepare pallets and crates for shipping. Verify material is correct and corresponds with batch sheet and shipping note, complete packing sections of batch sheet. Cross match all paperwork and records with goods. Identify goods requiring certificates.
  • Complete shipping paperwork.
  • Use hand and lift equipment as necessary to move and position material.
  • Adhere to prescribed safety rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure contamination is avoided in all processes.
  • Maintain high standard of housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
    • ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Maintain accurate, legible paperwork.
  • Able to read and understand written instruction.
  • Ability to lift and move paste bowls, containers and boxes manually or with equipment such as pallet trucks.
  • Accurately read measuring tools such as scales, thermometers and viscometers.
  • Live within a commutable distance.
    • ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Manufacturing environment, using various chemicals and metal powders. Personal protective equipment (provided) to worn as required.
