We are seeking a suitably qualified (FIBMS or MSc), HCPC state registered Biomedical Scientist with a minimum of 4 years post registration experience to join our busy Microbiology team based within the hospital setting at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow Essex.The department currently processes 270,000 samples per annum including a serology section, which is partly integrated with the Biochemistry department for the use of the Abbott Architect analysers. The laboratory is also equipped with a BacTalert 3D, VITEK 2, Autoscan, Bruker Maldi-tof, IQ 200 automated urine microscopy analyser, Mast Urisystem, Roche COBAS 4800 for CT/NG dual PCR testing, Aus Diagnostics, Q16&Q32 molecular platforms and VIDAS serology analyser.Good organisational and communication skills will be required along with up-to-date knowledge of microbiology. You should have enthusiasm and have the ability to work on your own or as part of a team. The laboratory is ISO 15189 UKAS accredited. The role includes responsibility as the Health and Safety Lead for the department so experience of risk assessments, COSHH documents is essential. You are required to play supportive role to the current Training lead for the department.
