New Independent School located in the borough of Haringey is currently recruiting for an Outreach Learning Mentor. This permanent position is either to commence immediately or in January 2021.Dynamic, Creative and State-Of-The-Art independent school that caters to students who have been diagnosed with mild SEMH (anxiety). This is a well-run Independent School with an exemplary Senior Leadership Team. The SEN Teachers & Support Staff have been observed as a minimum of a "Good". The learners who attend the school are between the ages of 7 - 18 years of age and are all on EHCPs. All new staff who are appointed, must have experience with children with different special needs; i.e. CAMHS/ SEMH/ ASD / ADHD and mild behaviour.New and exciting job opportunity has arisen for an Outreach Learning Mentor. The successful Learning Mentor has either been in a current post or have been an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant / SEN TA / Behaviour TA / HLTA/ LSA/ Mentor. Due to some students finding it difficult to integrate in mainstream education and being diagnosed with anxiety, they would like to appoint a Learning Mentor (outreach) who will go to the young persons home, who will work with the child/ children on a 1:1 basis, supporting the child academically in their studies, building a strong rapport with child/children. Some of the children do not want to leave their home so the Learning Mentor / SEN Teaching Assistant / SEN TA / Behaviour TA / HLTA/ LSA/ Mentor’s role in the first instance maybe just getting to know the child, engaging them and finding common ground. The Learning Mentor will have autonomy on the best practice to engage that child, whether it be in a library or in the childs home. It is imperative that the newly appointed LM has experience working in either an Alternative Provision / PRU / Independent School / SEN School or Mainstream School as it is essential that they can also help the child academically with their studies. **This is a Term Time Only 40 weeks a year position.**
