Job Description

Salary: PO7 (£49,646)Location: Haringey, North LondonContract: Permanent, Full -timeHours: 36 hours per weekAbout the roleTo assist HFH in complying with its duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and, to provide a competent work packaging, inspection, and audit function to assist in managing the fire safety risks associated with its housing stock portfolio. The role requires an individual to develop a prioritised delivery programme for the completion of all fire improvement works required across the building stock alongside, producing specifications for the delivery of fire improvement works, resulting from the fire risk assessment programme.About youYou will have a NEBOSH Fire Safety Management certificate or an alternative Level 3 fire safety management or engineering qualification and a proven track record in managing large, high profile and value projects. You will demonstrate organisation and a methodical approach to your work, be solution focused, deal promptly with problems, and find appropriate solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of building surveying and specific experience of building maintenance, preferably within a social housing context. You will have a good knowledge of relevant legislation applicable to residential buildings and construction activities and experience in managing an extensive, complex and varying caseload, with projects from inception to completion.Key Responsibilities

  • To develop a prioritised delivery programme for the completion of all fire improvement works required across the building stock.
  • To produce specifications for the delivery of fire improvement works, resulting from the fire risk assessment programme.
  • To liaise with Leasehold Team regarding the Section 20 consultation process.
  • To carry out post completion audits to confirm the quality of works undertaken.
  • To monitor and report on the delivery of the FRA works delivery programme.
  • In consultation with relevant heads of service, develop a process for the management, delivery and completion of FRA findings.
  • In consultation with the relevant heads of service, define within the business’ Fire Strategy, the minimum design and material standards for fire safety precautions.
  • Develop a two-year risk-based programme for the delivery of all FRA capital works.
  • Appoint, brief and manage external consultants as required.
  • Liaise with the Asset Management and Repairs teams and / or HFH’s contractors to provide relevant information regarding fire improvement works and the relevant standards required to enable works to be designed and delivered.
  • Produce and review management data to inform proactive inspections and remedial programmes.
  • Where required, provide support through the building control; planning and / or listed building consent process;
  • Where required, review and comment on written specifications of work and technical drawings to ensure works have been designed in accordance with Building Regulation and British Standard requirements; Other duties
  • Attend HFH’s fire safety meetings on a monthly basis and report on performance and compliance matters.
  • Attend meetings with London Fire Brigade (LFB) in conjunction with the Head of Health and Safety.
  • Attend meetings as required in fulfilment of the role Key Knowledge

  • Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent qualification in a related field
  • Substantial experience in a similar role, regarding fire related project management, design, servicing, repair or installation
  • Proven track record in managing large, high profile and value projects
  • Extensive experience of building surveying and specific experience of building maintenance, preferably within a social housing context.
  • Experience in managing an extensive, complex and varying caseload, with projects from inception to completion. Knowledge of relevant legislation applicable to residential buildings and construction activities.
