Job Description

About the role:To work closely and effectively as part of Housing Management SMT providing a model of first-rate leadership behaviour to achieve service excellence, driving forward continuous improvements, developing policies and process to create a modern service in response to the organisation’s requirements.To lead effectively on all aspects of tenancy management, community engagement and employment, social regeneration and youth support initiative services by developing high performing and highly motivated teams with customer focus and strong ethos of partnership working, creating and implementing the right strategic vision and pro-actively leading on change as necessary to deliver excellent landlord and housing plus services at all times within a changing environment.About you:Reporting to the Executive Director of Housing Management, you will be an expert in housing management (including tenancy law and community development), keeping up to date with new ways of working, best practice and legislative changes and continually reviewing policies, processes and procedures, learning from feedback to develop a first class service.Duties and responsibilities

  • To lead and direct the performance of the tenancy management and community services teams, responsible for the full range of services delivered to residents across the service.
  • To take a pro-active role in the delivery of the team’s work plan, goals and values, providing inspirational behaviour, role modelling, optimism and purpose and dealing with any complex, contentious matters where there are potential implications or risks to the organisation’s reputation or service provision.
  • To plan and successfully deliver projects and create initiatives and strategies to support the delivery of landlord services meeting regulatory and legislative requirements and providing community and housing plus services that support residents’ quality of life.
  • To understand the core objectives of LB Haringey for supporting independence for vulnerable residents, the risks associated with delivering the objectives and put in place appropriate systems and processes to achieve core KPIs and mitigate risk.
  • To be outward looking, keeping abreast of developments in the sector and finding new, innovative and creative solutions for the range of services in support and well-being driving the delivery of service excellence and responding effectively to changes - legislative, procedural and best practice.
  • To be responsible for full compliance with all the requirements of the service including building safety, managing complaints, supporting vulnerable adults and community safety.
  • Develop and sustain positive partnerships with Board Members and Elected Members of the Council including liaising with the Lead Member for Housing to ensure that Homes for Haringey and the Council’s service priorities are implemented effectively.
  • Essential Experience
  • Experience of leading tenancy services at senior level in a complex and medium/large housing organisation and an up to date understanding of social housing and residents’ needs
  • Experience of managing resident engagement and inclusion activities or teams.
  • Experience of working constructively with a range of external and internal partners to achieve a common goal.
  • Experience of sourcing funding streams to support community projects and employment opportunities.
  • Knowledge and skills
  • Excellent staff management, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of legislative and best practice developments in housing management including the resident involvement and social housing fields
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and its application to projects.
  • Able to work within and contribute to a "can do" culture,
  • An understanding of the importance of value for money.
