Job Description

About the Service / DepartmentTo provide high quality support and role model the ability to have a meaningful life for an allocated group of service users (aged 18+) with moderate to severe mental illness within the community. To carry out duties in line with Hestias and BEHMHTs policiesand procedures.About the Role

  • Build a therapeutic relationship with clients using a person-centred recovery approach
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Core Locality Multi-Disciplinary Team with clients to develop their recovery plan and promote personal responsibility.
  • Support clients to access local community resources and statutory services.
  • To be the named key-worker for a number of clients
  • Build rapport with clients and address the stigma of mental health challenges with colleagues
  • Supporting and educating Community Resources to develop mental health awareness and navigation, e.g. delivering Mental Health First Aid Training
  • Act a mentor and role model the ability to have a meaningful life for clients
  • To establish a supportive and respectful relationship with clients
  • Work with clients to help them identify their own meaningful recovery and personal goals drawing on your mutual resources as peers and utilising a range of recovery tools, techniques and experience
  • Support individual clients in their psychological understanding of themselves alongside practical, creative and cognitive skills
  • Role model recovery, self-advocacy, self-awareness and personal responsibility to inspire hope and confidence in clients using your experience of recovery
  • Assist service users to map their wellbeing and recovery by using a variety of tools, such as a Dialog+, Wellbeing Recovery Action Plan, Recovery Star or BEH My Wellbeing Plans
About you
  • NVQ Level 4 in care or equivalent OR Minimum of two years working experience in a mental health setting
  • (Desirable) Lived experience of mental illness and completed Peer Support training or equivalent
  • Wide range of life experiences to bring an enabling and positive view of opportunities for others
  • Understanding of the issues and concerns of mental health service users
  • Understanding and practical knowledge of recovery, peer support and coproduction/ involvement
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007
