Job Description

About the Service / DepartmentHarwood Road Care Homes is a registered residential care home regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).The property is located in Fulham with good access to public transport. Support is provided to 15 men / women with severe and enduring mental health needs who require support 24 hours a day.About the role

  • This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, creative professional to join a dedicated and innovative team.
  • The role will be carried out across our 3 CQC regulated care homes, and you will have the opportunity to plan and facilitate activities for our service users that live at the care homes.
  • Work with Registered Care Home Team Manager to set up and facilitate a program of relevant activities for Care Home service users.
  • Ensure that all activities are aligned to the principles of wellbeing, recovery and empowerment.
  • Provide information and advice on employment, educational, training and volunteering opportunities; and develop progressive stepping stones to access these opportunities alongside the Registered Care Home staff teams.
  • Support users in accessing mental health resources, enabling access to opportunities for recovery, rehabilitation and community capacity building.
  • In collaboration with the Team Manager, to support and train Support workers to plan and run activities as well as facilitate groups.
  • To work with the Team Manager/Area Manager to review the social inclusion progress of the RCH service users addressing diversity and inclusion issues for Black and minority ethnic communities or for people from the LGBTQi+ community.
  • Ensure confidentiality is kept at all times and that all records are kept up to date, stored in a secure and confidential manner.
About you
  • Experience of facilitating activity or support groups in a therapeutic setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of issues related to signs, symptoms and treatments of mental illness; ability to assess service users declining mental health and take appropriate action.
  • Knowledge of health and safety relevant to the role including working within accommodation and external settings.
  • Knowledge of key working, person centred support planning systems and the recovery approach.
  • Ability to use I.T. based Support Planning, Safety Assessment and Key working systems.
  • Able to produce letters and correspondence including care/support plans.
  • Ability to complete and record basic financial transactions, i.e. petty cash.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
