Job Description

Quality Engineer Aerospace and General Engineering Competitive Salary plus Benefits We are currently working with a specialist manufacturer of precision machined components for the Aerospace Industry to recruit a Quality Engineer. The main responsibilities will be to support and lead all quality activities, following all aerospace standardsto ensure product and process quality standards are maintained and adhered to within a small to medium size manufacturing environment.Whats in it for you

As Quality Engineer you will be required to:
  • Develop and maintain FMEAs to ensure all risks are captured in the Process Quality Plan.
  • Support the Operations Manager and Quality Manager in instilling a cultural change within the business towards a zero-defect policy.
  • Create APQP documentation to support new project introduction.
  • Develop SOPs for repeat work and ensure that standardisation is adhered to.
  • Conduct regular audits and spot checks to ensure compliance to internal processes.
  • Attend production meetings as the onsite Quality Representative.
  • Manage customer complaints and internal non-conformance using methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa Diagrams and 5 Whys.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the workload of our inspection facility, including the planning of offline CMM programs and MSA.
  • Undertake improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework and non-conformance.
  • Conduct contract reviews to ensure that requirements are planned and achievable.
As Quality Inspector you will have:
  • A strong quality background within aerospace (AS9100) is essential, with exposure to precision machined parts being advantageous.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Six Sigma and Gauge R&R gained in a similar position.
  • A have a hands on approach with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • CMM / Metrology experience would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.
  • The successful candidate will be able to motivate people and be able to demonstrate his/her contribution to continual improvement activities.
