Job Description

Warranty Test TechnicianOldbury/DudleySalary: 27k to 30k Depending on experienceThis company has steadily grown in strength and expertise. 12% of the current workforce have been here for over 30 years!Due to continued growth and success, we are looking to expand our team.Ideally you will have experience from an engineering/automotive background, and you will be looking to join a dynamic team!The business recognises hard work, effort and commitment!Job Purpose:Ensure that all customer warranty returns are analysed/tested in detail to confirm the faults.Identify liability and determine acceptance tolerances.Collect root cause analysis and provide corrective feedback to resolve the issues.Provide sufficient detailed analysis and escalate to a higher level to enable issue and trend analysis to provide information for warranty cost reduction activities.Job Duties:

  • Carry out hands-on inspection and diagnostics of units and review against OEM specification to understand issues.
  • Ensure that analysis data is reported to Head of Engineering within agreed time scales in customer specific format as required.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of warranty returns, claims and costs to determine corrective and preventative actions to support both the Customer, Production and Supplier.
  • Provide technical support to all internal departments to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Communicate fault and liability information to the relevant internal management in order to obtain robust interim and permanent corrective actions aimed at warranty prevention and cost reduction.
  • Contribute to ensuring lessons learned from warranty analysis are communicated to management to be captured on new projects.
  • Support regular meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan for improving build quality to reduce warranty claims.
  • Ensure all products flow through the warranty department in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the calibration system, ensuring all equipment is correctly calibrated.
  • Undertake special projects as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Write simple reports and provide information to management.
Requirements and experience:Preferred understanding of fuel systems and application on engine.Testing and diagnosisPreferred understanding of hydraulic and electromechanical systems.Preferred experience of using machinery.Ability to use hand tools and measurement equipment.Ability to interpret results and data to determine root cause analysis.Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.Knowledge of using Microsoft excel and word applications.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Proven experience to work as part of a team.Ability to present data effectively.Problem-solving skills.Analytical skills.Ability to work on own initiative Qualifications and Experience Levels:GCSE Level A-C, IVQ Technician certificate, BTec first certificate or equivalent NVQ level 2 qualificationDisplays a good attitude towards work, and the aims and objectives of the company.Working Hours: 08:00 am to 16.30 pm Mon to Friday with ½ hour lunch25 days holiday plus statsLife cover and pension after successful probationary
