Job Description

Are you a Mechanical Production / Design Engineer looking to expand your skills in the manufacturing design field Then we have an excellent opportunity for you!We have a fantastic specialist engineering company, serving a broad market sector including the oil and energy markets, seeking an addition to their established West Midlands based team.What will your day-to-day activities as a Mechanical Product Design Engineer includeThis position of Mechanical Product Design Engineer will be to support with the working on a wide range of designs, covering repeat and new upcoming projects. The role will encompass everything from small client-requested adjustments for existing products,to full Research and Development projects on brand new to market solutions. The designs will incorporate a vast array of complex engineering into the blend of form and extensive functionality, that the business products are known for.The right candidate will have experience of the design of machined and fabricated components, be highly motivated, honest, trustworthy, and able to work with integrity. They must have the ability to work on their own initiative and have a pro-active approachto problem solving.What you will accomplish together with the company:

  • Developing 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Inventor
  • Supporting the development of products with understanding of performance requirements, including all aspects of the product design criteria, product function and customer needs
  • Ensuring quality in a products design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability and ease of manufacture
  • Supporting efforts to verify and validate new product designs
  • Review of mechanical design calculations, fabrication drawings and job package for specialist products in accordance with Design Code, Client datasheet and Specifications
  • Applying design to cost and design for manufacturability methods to support Operations Team in achievement of project objectives
  • Contributing as a team member on projects carrying out assigned responsibilities
  • Working collaboratively with other team members in all aspects of work, including observing all Health and Safety measures
Ideal Candidate Requirements/Experience:
  • HNC / HND in Engineering; degree preferred.
  • Design and detail engineering of Vessels, Valves, Columns, Pipe Sections and Storage tanks
  • Strong relevant experience in product design and development with a solid understanding of the product lifecycle
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to identify, break down and solve a variety of difficult technical problems
  • Strong aptitude for hands-on engineering
  • Disciplined and well-organized in documentation (plans, requirements, drawings, design reviews)
  • Experience working with ISO, ASME, EN requirements and other relevant guidelines and regulations
  • Experienced in using Inventor
  • Experienced in using ERP Systems
  • Team player with good communication skills
