Job Description

My client is a world leader in the design, manufacture and installation of complete weighing andpacking line solutions. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Quality Engineer to join their organisation based in Birmingham.Purpose of the role:To ensure all machines or solutions comply with destination country regulatory requirements and get all required certification for machines or organisation applicable to region. In order to meet the above, you will need to work with the customer, agents,regional offices and parent company closely to support and resolve all required conformity certificates requirements or queries in a timely manner.Benefits:

  • Days/hours of work: Monday to Wednesday 3pm - 1am, Thursday 3pm - 12:30am

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and uphold regulatory standards that govern the equipment that the company design and supply.
  • Collate, create & maintain the designers risk assessments in a company standard format.
  • Liaise with customers, regulatory bodies, internal departments & suppliers with regards to applicable standards.
  • To ensure design and build of equipment is in compliance with both regulatory and contractual requirements
  • Work closely with the R&D and Engineering teams to ensure technical and legal compliance throughout the build of systems, particularly focussed on ensuring that European and UK standards are met along with CE markings for products, additional standardssuch as UL, CSA etc are also to be covered.
  • Ensure all machines such as X-ray, Airscan, Checkweigher, Seal tester, Grader and CCW etc are fully compliant to European Machine directive
  • Manage Type approval for all applicable machines, including X-Ray, across all regions where the business operates.
  • Work closely with the Quality and Supply chain teams to support operational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance data or certificates for all core machines or solutions are determined and available in the central location to everyone.
  • Manage technical files and declarations of conformity to ensure they are always up to date.
  • Keep job knowledge up to date by tracking and understanding emerging compliance engineering practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities and professional organisations; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networksor working with consultants such as TUV, Intertek or local HSE etc.
  • Support all audits by external agencies for certification such as NMI, NMO, TUV, BSI etc.
  • Ensure monthly report is prepared to update compliance gap and progress against the gap.
  • Conduct compliance audits on machines periodically to cover all machines every 3 years or earlier in the case of any key standard changes.
  • Support ISO activities and audit process for ISO9001, 14001 and 45001.
Skills/Experience Required:
  • You will have an engineering background
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering
  • You will have knowledge and understanding of the following CE; CP, ESA; CSA; UL; certification Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EC, Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2014/35/EUand be comfortable to reporting and present.
