Job Description

We are AGI Global Logistics; one of the fastest growing logistics companies in the UK.We currently have 18 offices and branches across the UK and Europe with 250 network locations Worldwide.Our current team of 200 people go the extra mile to provide the same outstanding service to every client and we are all driven by delivering expert road, sea and air freight distribution and logistics solutions for our clients.The bigger we become, the more people we can help… This is where you come in!The roleWe are looking for a Transport Manager to join our Immingham branch to support us with the growth of our transport department and successful running of our daily transport operations.You will be responsible for managing our drivers and transport planning team; distributing and managing workload for the team and providing support and development to further their knowledge and delivery.You will ensure the transport planning team plan the most efficient and effective routes, track our trailer fleet, communicate clearly and professionally with the internal team and our suppliers, and that all required documentation is created, sent and processed.You will be responsible for compliance by the business in relation to our drivers and vehicles including:

  • Ensuring that all drivers have the correct and up to date CPC qualifications and a valid driving licence prior to driving a company vehicle
  • Ensuring all vehicles are taxed, have a valid MOT and are insured at all times
  • Ensuring that tachograph legislation is followed by drivers and the wider team
  • Making sure vehicles are roadworthy and serviced, arranging repairs and routine maintenance
  • Ensuring that work is priced so that it can be done profitably
  • Making sure that company vehicles are loaded safely and not overloaded
  • Liaising with third party warehouse foreman and team.
  • Organising local around the clock shunting

What you’ll be able to offer
  • Previous transport management experience for a freight forwarding business is essential
  • National CPC qualification is essential
  • Excellent geographic knowledge of the UK is essential
  • Previous experience managing a team and drivers is essential
  • Knowledge of driving hours and tachograph legislation is essential
  • Strong resilience and positivity particularly in challenging situations
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to develop and build strong and personable relationships over the phone and in person with a broad range of individuals
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a strong team player
  • Accountability to yourself and others
  • Extremely organised with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work well under pressure and able to work to tight deadlines
  • High IT literacy skills and competence with Microsoft office packages
  • An open and honest approach to all things
  • Flexibility and an ability to adapt to change
