Job Description

Job IntroductionThis role is within the Euston Cavern Team. This role will focus on the readiness for Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL)shaft and tunnel works. This role will be involved in delivery documentation preparation, temporary works, technical assurance, pre-constructionplanning, asset interface management, I&M, materials trials and testing, all focused on readiness for start of SCL works.Scope of works will focus on the construction of the Euston shaft, cavern and crossover SCL tunnels in the Euston Area.

  • Enabling and mobilisation works commenced in 2021.
  • Shaft and tunnels works are planned to commence end of 2023.
  • Works completion is planned in 2028.
This role reports to the Construction Manager responsible for the Cavern Team and will work primarily with the Tunnels Manager and Engineering Manager.This role will also interface with the design managers, the temporary works coordinator, the I&M manager, the materials team, the technical assurance team, the engineering management team.Flexible working: We welcome you to ask about the flexibility you need. In return, we will explore whatis possible for the role.Role ResponsibilityReadiness for SCL Tunnelling:
  • This role is responsible for preparing and submitting the documentation required to commence SCL works. This includes: unexpected events plans, emergency preparedness plans, tunnel management plan, readiness to dig, activity readiness review, SCL testingplan, SCL trials plan.
Pre-Construction Planning:
  • This role is responsible for supporting the development of strategies for SCL supply, muckaway, SCL trials and site setup for SCL works.
  • For SCL supply this includes resource loading the programme, mapping SCL quantities, planning supply routes, producing interface plans for site logistics with other assets, ensuring other assets temporary and permanent works account for the batching plantloadings, producing scoping documents for procurement items including pipework, pumps and plant.
  • For SCL trials this role must produce a plan for the completion of the trials including: site location, scope of trials, materials testing, trials report. This role must manage the planning and coordination with testing houses for the completion of pre-constructiontrials and in-production testing for SCL and cast concrete.
  • For muckaway this includes resource loading the programme, mapping muckaway quantities, mapping loads, planning muckaway routes, producing interface plans for site logistics with other assets, producing scoping documents for procurement items includingmuckaway conveyors and muckbins.
  • This role will also be involved in the selection, procurement and planning for setup and setup of SCL specific plant and equipment.
  • This role is responsible for coordinating with the construction manager and tunnel manager for direction in completion of the above activities.
Temporary Works:
  • This role is responsible for identifying temporary works design packages.
  • This role must produce a temporary works design list, identify dates required for use on site and produce temporary works design briefs.
  • This role is responsible for gathering design brief information and leading the input into designs to ensure buildability.
Technical Assurance:
  • This role is responsible for developing and producing the technical assurance requirements for SCL shaft and tunnel construction.
On the completion of preparation of readiness for SCL works, it is expected that this role may transfer to a shift manager type role within the SCL delivery teamThe Ideal CandidateRequired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working as a Shift Manager for SCL works.
  • Experience in planning and delivering SCL works
  • SCL experience in shafts and tunnels required. Approximately 5 years
Required Qualifications
  • Engineering Degree/ HNC or similar in a construction discipline.
