Job Description

Position: Teacher of ScienceLocation: Driffield, East Riding of YorkshireSalary: £131£210Start Date: April 2022GSL Education are seeking a full-time Teacher of Science for a secondary school in Driffield for an Easter start. GSL Education are wanting to hear from experienced teachers, or confident newly qualified teachers with strong behaviour management skills.About the School:

About the Science department:
  • Their science curriculum enables students to understand, enjoy and marvel at the natural world and universe around them.
  • The ability to do this begins with students gaining a secure, fundamental knowledge of key scientific concepts.
  • This knowledge is imparted through the schools core components of Scienceunits that are studied in every year group to increasing levels of depth.
  • Carefully build student understanding through their additional components of Science which allow students to make connections across the broader domain of Science and to tackle increasingly more complex problems.
  • Students engage in focused and purposeful rehearsal of investigative skills to develop practical competency at KS3.
  • These skills are then applied during practical work as they progress to KS4 in order to allow clear links to form between the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.
Teacher of Science requirements:
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) with Key Stage 3 and GCSE science teaching experience.
  • Relevant Degree; Biology, Chemistry or Physics. You will teach your specialist subject at GCSE.
  • Uphold high expectations of all pupils and uphold high professional standards.
  • Understand the need for a scaffolded curriculum.
  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of school staff.
  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to engage and build a rapport with young people.
  • MUST have a child workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one via GSL Education.
