In January 2018, the Minister for Health announced the government’s commitment to the development of a Scottish Trauma Centre Network over a 5 year phased funding plan this network is made up of 4 Regional Major Trauma Centres based in North, East, West and South/East Scotland. The West of Scotland Major Trauma Network is a collaboration of 6 NHS Boards (Ayrshire and Arran; Dumfries and Galloway; Forth Valley; Lanarkshire; Greater Glasgow and Clyde; Highland (Argyll and Bute CHP) and the Scottish Ambulance Service. The network will provide all aspects of trauma care, from the point of injury to rehabilitation, in the region. At the heart of the regional network, is the Major Trauma Centre which will be sited at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow. In order to support this new development the Unit is offering a number of new roles to support the care of patients throughout their journey. The service is currently looking to further enhance and develop by recruiting to the specialist Occupational Therapy and a Physiotherapy team. These posts are essential to the delivery of the major trauma centre and are integral to the development of the rehabilitation model to ensure it continues to be innovative in its delivery. You will work within the multidisciplinary team including Advanced Critical Care & Major Trauma Practitioners to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive Major Trauma service. We are looking for 2 Physiotherapists to join the AHP Major Trauma Team in the South Sector of Glasgow. You will provide expert direct clinical care, which encompasses physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of patients as part of the in patient service. You will clinically be responsible for rotational Physiotherapists and support workers. You will lead in service development and implement service change. It is essential that you are educated to a BSc in Physiotherapy while being registered with HCPC. You should have significant post graduate experience with previous clinical experience in the treatment of Major Trauma patients. It is essential that you are computer literate including use of email and internet skills. You should have excellent communication and leadership skills.
