An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of the Physiotherapy team who deliver the amputee rehabilitation service in WestMARC at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This service provides lower limb prosthetics services to approximately 52% of Scotland’s population. It functions as a self-contained area within WESTMARC. The inpatients for this service are mainly based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital whilst outpatients, approximately 3000, come mainly from Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Ayrshire, Argyll, Forth Valley, Lanarkshire, Dumfries and Galloway and some other Scottish Health Boards.Patient referrals are received by the service from:Primary patient referrals from the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital or other hospitals.Self referrals from existing patients and or carers.Referrals from General Practitioners, Consultants and other Health Care Professionals.This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills including MDT working, service development, audit and leadership experience.The Band 6 Physiotherapist provides clinical and professional leadership to rotational physiotherapists, HCSW and nursing staff within the Amputee rehabilitation service to ensure the objectives and quality standards of the NHS Scotlands National Quality Strategy are achieved and any future national initiatives. You should have demonstrable highly specialist clinical skills/knowledge, from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio, with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across amputee rehabilitation, trauma, orthopaedics and general musculoskeletal conditions.You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge or onward referral, and have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, and students within the speciality. You will provide specialist resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance, Clinical Effectiveness and Research. You, under the guidance of the Physiotherapist Team Lead will assist in delivering Sector/ Directorate department plans which drive financial efficiency and quality initiatives across the Sector/Directorate simultaneously ensuring person centred care is at the forefront of all decision making. You must be registered with HCPC and have substantial clinical, operational and line management experience. The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday 8.30aam – 4.30pm.Informal enquiries/visits welcome.
