We are advertising for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join the Adult Mental Health Liaison Service (AMHLS) which becomes a new board-wide service in September 2020. AMHLS aims to provide a comprehensive and accessible service to health care professionals and their patients throughout Glasgow and Clyde’s acute hospitals. It is a multidisciplinary service comprising of Psychiatrists, Mental Health Liaison Nurses and Clinical Psychologists. The service provides psychiatric/psychological assessment, consultation and advice on management, arranges support and follow-up for patients presenting with mental health difficulties as a result of crises, suicidal ideation and self-harm. The service also works with inpatients experiencing psychological distress due to a health condition within the acute hospital setting. This post would be an excellent opportunity for either a suitably experienced Band 7 Clinical Psychologist or an experienced Principal Clinical Psychologist looking for a new challenge. This post will be based across the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital, with the RAH providing an opportunity for service development. The post holder will provide a high quality psychological assessment and intervention as well as opportunities for reflective practice for staff working in the service. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team will afford the successful applicant with opportunities to contribute to consultation and AMHLS’ fortnightly teaching programme. The post holder would be expected to be enthusiastic about multi-disciplinary working, and feel confident about working as an integral member of a large board-wide service. We look forward to receiving enquiries about this post from HCPC registered Clinical Psychologists who have post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan development psychology. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check. The hours for this part-time post are flexible, worked Monday-Friday.Informal Contact: Mary Cawley, Consultant Clinical Psychologist on or email Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service can be found within the Candidate Information Packs .
