Job Description

Due to an internal promotion, Howdens is hiring for an experienced Group Internal Auditor to join our award-winning Audit and Risk team. We are flexible on the location of this role, and it could be based in any of our offices in Northampton, Northamptonshire,Croxley, Hertfordshire, Raunds, Northamptonshire or Howden, Yorkshire.This is a great opportunity for an independently minded and commercial Internal Audit professional to join a fast-paced FTSE 100 organisation with an ambitious growth agenda. Reporting to the Group Senior Internal Audit Manager, you will act as a trustedbusiness partner to our operations function and will play an integral part in delivering value and business transformation. There will be some travel to our UK and European sites required for this Audit role.What you will be doing:

• Drive, lead, and own multiple audits from concept through to delivery across all business functions.
• Ensure robust controls are in place within our operations function.
• Identify significant risks in processes, projects, services, and business applications.
• Support the execution of the annual Internal Audit plan and in the delivery of Internal Audit objectives across the sales, operations, IT, and central functions.
• Prepare, deliver, and present your reports to your business stakeholders including Executive Management.
• Influence and engage with key stakeholders on the design, implementation, and effective application of controls.

What we need from you:

• Exceptional relationship building and stakeholder management skills needed to influence and partner with your business areas.
• Internal Audit experience within an operational environment or external audit organisation with demonstrable examples of ensuring robust controls are in place.
• Hold or be working towards a professional audit or finance qualification (CMIIA, CIA, ACCA, ACA).
• CAATS / Audit Tools experience is required.
• Proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio.
• A demonstrable knowledge of operations auditing to include inventory management, forecasting, business continuity, disaster recovery, product sourcing and health and safety.
• Good knowledge of internal audit practices, principles and procedures including evaluation, sample sizes and prioritisation methodologies.
• Intellectual agility, with a high degree of analytical skills, to apply to problem solving and solution generation.
• Exceptional communication skillsboth written and verbalincluding developing and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences.
• A keen eye for detail and maintains a clear focus and sees actions through to delivery.
• Experience or demonstrable knowledge of US SOx and upcoming BEIS consultation impacts.
