Job Description

Buyer, Based in Glossop, Salary: £27-30k, 37.5hrs per week Monday – Friday (flexible around work times and working from home / office)Due to continued growth and success an exciting opportunity for a Buyer has arisen within an award-winning and market leading supplier of rugs to the retail sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Buyer to further their career in a fast moving, growing business. Candidates will ideally have experience of buying internationally and preferably have experience from within a similar sector and / or knowledge of similar products; rugs, interiors, homewares, furniture, fabrics / upholstery, fashion or similar.The company believe that looking after your team, your customers, your suppliers and the environment isn’t just the right way to work it’s the only way to work.Key aspects of the Buyer roleWorking with the Buying & New Product Development Manager to deliver the following:

  • Strategy - to create a product strategy that consistently delivers profitable and commercial ranges that maximise sales, minimise markdown and achieve profit targets.
  • Design - identify key incoming design and colour trends and translate into our products.
  • New product development- able to convert an idea from concept to fully developed product working directly with factories globally.
  • Market Knowledge - to analyse consumer buying patterns, competitor activities and predict future trends.
  • Critical Path Management - management of the critical path, from idea to final sample, whilst ensuring all products hit launch dates and managing multiple products.
  • Range Building - to analyse range gaps, plan, select and build the range. Select the type and quantity of products according to customer demand.
  • The Numbers - to analyse, forecast, plan and implement the buying strategies to maximise sales and profit.
  • Negotiation - costing management, including value engineering products to customer requirements.
  • Vendor relationships - pro-actively supporting the Buying Manager in managing & improving our worldwide supply base.
  • Leadership – leadership responsibilities within the buying team.
    • Candidate requirements:
  • Buyer experience, preferably with knowledge experience of rugs, interiors, homewares, furniture, fabrics / upholstery, fashion or similar.
  • Experience of working for a business of a similar size - £30-50m turnover.
  • Experience of working with and liaising with factories and suppliers internationally.
  • Product development, range building and category management experience.
  • Critical path management (managing multiple projects at any one time).
  • Preferably have experience of leading / managing teams
