Job Description

Our client specialises in the recruitment and management of Merchant Navy Officer Trainees on behalf of world-class shipping companies.This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is looking to build their skills and knowledge whilst gaining vital work experience within a growing Cadet Management company.They have four years of experience in supporting and developing Modern Apprentices within the business.ResponsibilitiesThe Apprentice will work alongside the Training Officer’s and report to the Training Manager. The team deals with all areas of the Trainees Cadetship. Your duties and responsibilities would include:

  • Working in a help desk role as first line support for Cadets calling in for assistance. You will endeavour to resolve any issues, escalating issues when required.
  • Providing System Support to Training Officer with scheduling Cadet interviews and gathering relevant documents.
  • Assist Training Manager and Training Officer with Cadet Payroll – inputting expenses and distributing payslips using QuickBooks.
  • Upkeep of Trainee Documentation ensuring all documents are valid and stored appropriately on our in-house documentation system.
  • Uploading documents to client portals via our CRM.
  • Applying for American and Australian Visas and Discharge Book Applications.
  • Attend open days at local colleges with the Training Officer and Training Manager.
  • Distribution of Interview outcomes in consultation with the Training Officer and Training Manager.
  • Assist in the organisation of company presentations / meetings / career events etc.
  • Assist with Webinars on Zoom
Skills and CompetenciesThe client is keen to hear from candidates who are enthusiastic about working within an office environment and are keen to gain experience within all areas of Digital Systems. Due to the nature of the role, the qualities we are looking for are:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail
  • Great communicator with a proactive approach
  • Good time management, planning and organisational skills
  • Good telephone manner
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Collaborative team player
  • Good sense of humour!
Qualifications
  • English (National 5 or equivalent) Required
  • Mathematics (National 5 or equivalent) Preferred
Working Hours
  • Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.30pm (Occasional OOH to attend events)
  • 1-hour unpaid lunch break
  • 32 days holiday per year
