Job Description

Screening Nurse PractitionerBand 6 Part time 22.5 hours Based In Lancashire & South CumbriaAs part of the National AAA Screening Programme, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust delivers the AAA screening programme for Cumbria and Lancashire.An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible registered nurse with an interest in vascular services to join our team based at Preston Business Centre in Preston Lancashire.The AAA Nurse practitioner plays a vital role within the service providing advice, support to patients and also providing education and training to other team members.Clinical duties include attending community based screening clinics to perform aortic ultrasound scans. No experience in ultrasound is necessary as the successful applicant will undertake ultrasound training to ensure high standards of scanning is met in accordance with national standard operating procedures including the completion of the level 3 Diploma for Health screeners.In addition the post holder will support the Screening Coordinator in the provision of the AAA screening service by providing health promotion advice and ensuring timely referral for large aneurysms.The post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to combine clinical and management skillsThe hours of work will need to be flexible within the core hours of the service:Monday-Friday 8.00am to 8.00pm and occasional Saturdays.The successful candidate will have a clean driving licence and use of a vehicle covered with insurance for business use.The post holder will be expected to travel to Gateshead and to the National Programme for regular training and meetings.For enquiries please contact Mrs Carole Williams, Programme Manager, on .
