Job Description

  • Service bonus - Lump sum of 2% of salary paid each December, increasing to 4% after 10 years and 5% after 20 years - this is a guaranteed contractual element of the reward package.

MTrecs New Opportunity;MTrec Technical are proudly representing out prestigious manufacturing client, based in Gateshead, with their plans for internal growth by recruiting a Permanent HSE Manager to join their team. A successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensiveand proactive service on site with regards to ensuring that the organisation is legally compliant with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and permits as required.   • Effectively line manage and develop an Apprentice within the EHS team, liaising with the relevant college assessor to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Manage health, safety and environment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with the local authority environmental permits and water board consent to discharge, dealing with any issues/demands arising there from.
  • Manage health, safety and environmental management systems to BS EN ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Interpretation and application of all EHS legislation and Codes of Practice to ensure compliance throughout the site.
  • Contractor management and permit to work process, risk assessment on all regular operations and implementation of safe working practices, management of COSHH programme.
  • Plan and implement EHS audit programme
  • Perform regular workplace inspections and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Co-ordinates and develops the role of EHS representatives in monitoring of work practices.
  • Co-ordinates EHS awareness programme including training and communication.
  • Produce meaningful EHS reports and analysis to identify trends with a view to implementing safety solutions.
About You;
  • Experience within a HSE Management position.
  • NEBOSH Diploma and/or NVQ level 5/6 or equivalent qualification
  • IEMA Certificate
  • Knowledge of best practice in relation to Health and Safety
  • Ability to analyse and assess levels of compliance, developing and maintaining effective systems to support the organisation in continuous compliance
  • Ability to advise staff and managers appropriately in respect of potential/actual risk and how this may be managed
  • Experience of BS EN 45001, 14001 and 9001
  • Experience of dealing with local authority permits including air emissions and consent to discharge
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industry and contractor management environment
  • Experience of developing and contributing to Health and Safety strategies which contribute to achievement of business goals
