Job Description

The CompanyInternational market leading business is seeking to recruit an Application Support Specialist as the company continues to expand in this niche market using cloud technologies.The roleAs part of a growing team, the Application Support Specialist will be responsible for providing 2nd/3rd line technical supportsupport to the deployment and ongoing maintenance of new and existing technical solutions to customers. You will be pivotal in the timely delivery of technical integration and analytical support to the customer and end users, ensuring project timescales and SLA/OLA always meet contractual compliance. Specifically you will:

  • Provide expert application support for bespoke solutions, ensuring adherence to incident and problem SLA/OLA via the service management tool.
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers in the scope, configuration, integration and on boarding processes to ensure smooth project delivery and issue resolution.
  • Escalate issues accordingly to line manager, ensuring all impacted parties are kept informed of progress as appropriate.
  • Support of deployment, integration and support of the solution as required,
  • Contribute to Problem resolution through identification of recurring issues and liaising with local and central support teams where necessary.
  • Be responsible for all aspects of application administration and maintenance.
  • Respond to security issues identified using the SIEM tool set and other monitoring and logging tools.
  • Provide application technical expertise for the implementation of changes to the existing infrastructure in a controlled manner, working to best practice methodologies to fulfil new or upgrade requirements of the Application Systems.
  • Provide ad-hoc training and guidance to colleagues within the wider customer care team where appropriate.
  • Clearly define defects identified within the production environment, with the ability to express these to support (internal or external) to expedite issue resolution
  • Manage application deployment activities in line with agreed process and best practice
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting during Infrastructure fault diagnosis, liaising with expert infrastructure teams or third party (vendor) support when required.
  • Be responsible for the documentation and deployment of system and application change requests in accordance with formalised change management procedures.
  • Contribute to testing and support of proposed application changes throughout the change lifecycle.
  • Be responsible keeping existing documentation relevant and up to date and for producing formal documentation to accompany a piece of work
  • Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.The requirementsWith experience of supporting applications on Windows and Linux based operating systems you will also be proficient in SQL Querying and Web Servers such as IIS and/or Apache. In addition, knowledge or experience with the following would be beneficial:
  • Microsoft BizTalk (or similar message broker applications).
  • Packaged applications deployment & XML messaging systems.
  • SSL Certificates, network infrastructure and virtual server platforms
  • MariaDB, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ and Docker.
  • Any experience with public cloud such as Azure or AWS would be ideal but not essential as you will be trained with these technologies and the business continues its cloud journey.Experience of working within anITIL, Incident, Problem and Change Management environment is desirable.
