Job Description

Health and Safety Manager (£40,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE)Our client is an established and rapidly growing business (Tier 1 Contractor to the UK’s largest Telecoms Company) operating within the Telecoms Utilities Sector, based in Wellingborough, Northants.They are seeking a SHEQ Qualified Health and Safety Manager and someone who holds a NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum (albeit, not necessarily with Telecoms experience) to work from their East Midlands Office. This is an excellent and excitingopportunity for the right person to expand the role and develop a career in line with the expansion of the Company. For the successful candidate they will also provide further support, training and mentoring.This is a full-time role, both office and site based and will involve a variety of health and safety activities which require attention to detail and the ability to communicate with others at Head Office, on site and with their clients’ Health & Safety personnel.Background checks will be conducted, and all candidates must have the right to work in the UK.With demonstrable experience as a SHEQ leader, you’ll have a good mix of health, safety, environment, sustainability and quality policy and legislative competence, ideally gained within a telecoms/utilities/construction environment, particularly in relationto audit and assurance but candidates from other industry sectors will also be considered.The role will involve responsibilities such as:

  • Ensuring the business is legally compliant with H&S legislation at all times;
  • Proactively working to ensure that SHEQ is considered at all stages;
  • Investigating all accident, incidents and near misses;
  • Undertaking weekly safety site audits, toolbox talks and daily briefings.
This is a high growth area of our clients business, and you would be joining them at a very exciting time, with responsibility for developing a department to help deliver this growth. The role will involve travel throughout the UK and can be based partlyremotely, but should ideally be commutable to their offices near Wellingborough.The challenge of this role will be to keep on top of the responsibilities of the job whilst enabling positive safety culture and driving this mantra across the business.BenefitsOur client provides a Company car, 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, Company life assurance and pension scheme.
