Job Description

Payroll Manager/ Bookkeeper with excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Sage and previous experience of working in a fast-paced office environment is required for an established marketing company based in Feering, Colchester,Essex.SALARY: £25,000 pro rataLOCATION: This is a hybrid role working with 1 day a month in the office in Feering, Colchester. (Initial training at the start of employment will be office based)JOB TYPE: Part-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 20 Hours per WeekJOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Payroll Manager/ Bookkeeper with excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Sage and previous experience of working in a fast-paced office environment.Working as a Payroll Manager/ Bookkeeper you will be an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function for the company.As a Payroll Manager/ Bookkeeper you will also be responsible for processing monthly payrolls for, at present, around 100 employees, spread across 4 companies.APPLY TODAYIf this job looks like your ideal position, then please send in your CV as soon as possible for our Recruitment Team to review.DUTIESYour role as a Payroll Manager/ Bookkeeper will include:

  • Processing monthly payrolls
  • Liaising with departmental managers and external accountants when required
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies in all payroll areas
  • Inputting salaries and hours onto relevant software (e.g. Moneysoft) including bonus, overtime, holidays and unpaid leave
  • Calculating and inputting amounts relating to SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP
  • Adding, updating and removing employees from payroll including producing P45s for leavers
  • Sending payment schedules to accounts for approval each month
  • Completing payroll reports for record-keeping and managerial review purposes
  • Manage the Auto-enrolment pension scheme
  • Complying with GDPR and other relevant legislation regarding confidentiality of pay and personal records of colleagues
  • Distribution of pay slips and post within strict deadlines
  • Answering queries regarding wages, deductions, attendance and time records
  • Updating payment templates on various platforms for new staff and changes to personal details
  • Setting up template payments
  • Calculate bonuses and allowances
  • Monitoring holiday system to analyse sickness and absence and amending pay accordingly
  • Enter purchase invoices onto SAGE for Focus on Media, matching with serial number on Advantage and processing for payment
  • Working through Draft Sales invoices, making real and sending to clients
  • Enter overhead invoices onto SAGE for with appropriate nominal code and process for payment
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • BSc in Accounting, AAT Level 3 qualified, Human Resources or relevant field
  • Experience within a similar role and processing payrolls
  • An understanding of payroll software packages including Moneysoft
  • An understanding of GDPR and relevant legislation
  • A good understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Pro-active and self-motivated
  • The ability to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines
