Job Description

Logistic and Distribution ManagerTamworth£30,000 per annumAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven, enthusiastic, adaptable Logistic and Distribution Manager to join a small but busy and friendly team in Tamworth. The ideal candidate will have a can-do’ attitude coupled with a keen eye for detail.Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example in upholding the company’s high standards
  • Monitor and keep up to date staff training (including additional courses, fire safety, first aid) requirements and arranging as required. Perform appraisals, set work and feedback on performance.
  • Ensure company certification and audit requirements are kept up to date, including ISO 9001
  • Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements by managing Warehouse Team members responsible for booking, picking, shipping, returns and purchasing processes. Conduct regular stock checks and yearly stock take.
  • Select carriers/suppliers and monitor service against performance criteria. Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery. Seek out potential new suppliers where applicable
  • Take control of packaging and provide appropriate, cost effective, high quality solutions
  • Support new business initiatives and projects and contribute to review meetings and change process.
  • Ensure IT systems in place are effective, maintained and accurate for Warehouse needs
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets assign by Operational Director
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities
  • Maintain, monitor Warehouse KPIs as per company goals in Warehousing, Quality and H& S areas as agreed with Directors
  • Respond to warehouse alarm alerts promptly, particularly outside normal working hours, liaise with other staff members also responsible for this to facilitate an on-call rota to allow staff time off
  • Ensure that the office and warehouse staff members comply with all Covid regulations and company policies, work with HR to keep these policies up to date.
  • Act as H & S Manager, ensuring company-wide processes and procedures meet the requirements of the H & S Management system. Lead on implementing changes as and when necessary. Evaluate necessity of implementing new procedures and explore other avenues if labour required outweighs necessity for the business.
  • Placing purchase orders with suppliers and process them in SAGE 200
  • Inform Finance Team about prices changes and monitor all enquires related to PO invoicing
  • Create new stock codes- liaise with Warehouse Support and Distribution Coordinator and Graphic Designer to create labels and technical sheets for new products
  • Plan and develop components order for stock manufactured by company
  • Make sure CPIO and SICON systems are up to date and used by Warehouse staff in right manner
  • Covering Warehouse Support and Distribution Coordinator role during absence
  • Setting up a manufacturing plant for future product development
  • Setting up remote warehousing in various countries such as Azerbaijan, Australia and South Africa. You must be willing to travel to both of these countries once the projects are underway.
  • Support logistics team by joining in the on-call rota for weekend emergencies
  • Required and desired skills/qualifications
  • Previous logistics experience
  • SAGE 200 knowledge: Purchase and Sales Ledger
  • Materials planning skills
  • Experienced with WMS
  • Microsoft Office
  • Export/Import
  • DG goods Export/Import
  • IOSH qualifications
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001
  • CB licence
