Job Description

Mechanical Design EngineerFaslane, HelensburghClydeSF32851Salary £40,000About the RoleAt HMNB Clyde we work closely with our client, the Ministry of Defence and are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join us. We manage critical infrastructure and nuclear facilities, with our support teams managing the delivery of Grounds & Waste, Retail & Leisure, Catering and Logistics functions. We also provide the MoD with highly specialised engineering support services.As the Mechanical Design Engineer you will play a key role in providing conceptual and detailed Mechanical and Building Services Engineering designs across HMNB Clyde for Naval Base Projects, Facility Managers and in house customers. You will be responsible for implementing all mechanical non-nuclear safety implicated (Non NSI) services design requests. You will work across the entirety of HMNB Clydes equipment/buildings and infrastructure assessing Steam boiler plant and Control systems, Pressure Systems, Heating and Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems to name a few, in line with MoD Defence Estates Asset Management Plans and methodology. You will be tasked with reviewing equipment ad assessing its life cycle condition based on environmental, operational conditions and maintenance periods with the view to anticipate replacements and ensure its capability and availability.What do I need to do the roleYou must have a HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and have knowledge of (or be willing to learn) asset management practices/ISO 55001. You will ideally come from a building services environment and must have experience in a number of the following:• Degree in Building Services Engineering or Equivalent experience (Desirable)• Mechanical Design• Mechanical Systems and Equipment• Operational Documentation• Statutory and regulatory requirements including DSEAR Regulations, COSHH, CDM• Engineering Drawing - CAD• Mechanical Calculation Packages: HEVAComp, IES.• Building Control• Safe Systems of Work• Risk Assessments• Quality Assurance• Health, Safety & Environment• Planning processes• Working knowledge of business applications such as IFS, MS Office.• Awareness of asset management principles and ISO 550001What else do I need to knowYou will primarily be based at HMNB Clyde with your time being split between Clyde and Coulport in support of business needs. You will work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday with the occasional need for weekend work and you must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance before starting.We are happy to talk about flexible working.
