Mast & Periscope Engineer x2Clyde, FaslaneNaval Marine£36,790About the roleHere at Babcock International were looking to recruit an Engineering Specialist (Mast & Periscope).Youll work as part of a team who are responsible for planned and reactive maintenance on mast, periscope and radio-related systems aboard vessels based at HM Naval Base Clyde.Specific responsibilities will include conducting defect analysis and rectification, carrying out planned maintenance which will involve removing / installing specialist mechanical and electrical equipment.Additional responsibilities include maintaining documentation, processes and procedures which enable safe operation of maintenance and repair activities.You may be required to work out with core hours and to travel within the UK and internationally.What do I need to do the roleYou will have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Modern apprenticeship to SVQ Level 3 or equivalent and be able to demonstrate significant experience of mechanical and / or electrical maintenance and repair activities. Specific experience of maintaining mast, periscope and radio-related systems are a requirement for this position.You will work within a multi-skilled team operating various equipment and machinery from small pieces of equipment to the use of fork lifts and scissor lifts. You must be comfortable working at heights, happy to work within a multi-skilled area and willing to increase your skills base.We would also like you to have experience:

  • Experience of working to Risk, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work
  • Experience of writing / updating processes and procedures, enabling activities to be carried out in accordance with applicable quality and safety standards
  • What else do I need to knowThis role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland.
