Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Fitter (Marine Engineering)Location: Faslane, Helensburgh, GB, G84 8HLCompensation: £32,422 + BenefitsRole Type: Full time / PermanentRole ID: SF 40708This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an experienced team and advance your knowledge and broaden your experience working on a wide variety of different Marine Engineering systems, equipment on RN vessels (submarines and surface ships) with the opportunityto also work abroad.Who we are looking forWe are looking for an Electrical Fitter who will undertake electrical fitting activities utilising their skill set determining the best way to investigate, rectify and repair faults. Also act as a mentor to colleagues and provides guidance and instructionto one or more apprentices under their care and provide direction to Multi Skilled Operatives.What will you be doing

  • Carrying out large and small maintenance packages, working down on the submarines in confided spaces and on panels carrying out fault finding, aligning and running cables, electrical repairs, electrical fault finding AC and DC moto theory (advantage) andelectronic systems, motor generator preventative and active maintenance including electrical alterations upgrades and improvements.
  • Working in confined spaces, occasionally working to heights and in inclement weather conditions.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity and safety in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes in accordance with Clyde policies.
  • Operate Marine Engineering systems and equipment in accordance with relevant procedures
  • Undertake mentoring where required to personnel in the operation & maintenance of Marine Engineering systems and equipment.
The experience youll bring
  • Previous Electrical Fitter experience within a Marine Engineering or industrial environment, a background with submarine or surface ships would be advantageous.
  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ and C&G equivalent).
  • You will be able to understand and read drawings and have the ability to think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet rigorous acceptance standards.
  • Experience of Maintenance Procedures, Risk, and COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work with excellent team working and interpersonal skills.
  • You must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role
