Job Description

Job Title: Director of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ)Location: Helensburgh, Argyll & ButeCompensation: Competitive Salary + Bonus, Car Allowance and BenefitsRole ID: SF41270An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the Babcock Clyde Executive Board and lead, direct and develop the Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) function within Babcock at HMNB Clyde to deliver a high quality performancein the HSSEQ arena.Who we are looking forWe are looking for a Director of HSSEQ who will agree Business, Function and Directorate objectives and targets with the Managing Director and once set, lead these through to successful completion. Youll work with all parts of the business to ensure high qualityHSSEQ performance is delivered at all levels, demonstrating a true commitment to the Clyde partnering model and ethos.What will you be doing

  • Develop and lead an improvement programme for Health and Safety that results in a top decile performance. Delivering process, technical and business improvement using continuous improvement techniques to accelerate delivery in key business areas. This includesmeasuring Directorate performance and adoption of best practice through the introduction of innovative solutions (people, systems and technology).
  • Ensure that adequate resources (SQEP people, facilities, equipment) are available to deliver governance, assurance and improvement activities. This includes the provision of leadership to all HSSEQ staff in the delivery of their duties.
  • Control expenditure of the HSSEQ Department within forecasted budget whilst actively seeking opportunities to increase income. This includes overall responsibility and reporting for business development (Growth) and business improvement (Savings) to ensureall requirements are fully met.
  • Set the strategy for the governance, assurance and improvement of a HSSEQ Management System for all matters that may affect safety at HMNB Clyde and specifically the Authorised Site.
  • Development and deployment of HSSEQ Policy and Strategy for HMNB Clyde to meet customer, regulatory and business requirements. Deliver an assessment programme with documented output in regards to HSSEQ at HMNB Clyde that ensures hazards / risks are identifiedand any corrective action implemented.
  • Liaise directly with the Captain Base Safety on service provision, exceeding customer expectations in terms of service delivery.
The experience youll bring
  • Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject and ILM Level 7 or equivalent.
  • Strong operational leadership experience in HSSEQ within an industrial setting.
  • Experience of working with multi-agency regulators and stakeholders.
  • Experience of developing and delivering HSSEQ improvement programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging workforces in safety improvement.
  • A strong focus and track-record on ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and authorisation arrangements.
  • Ideally you will already hold or be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role within a Ministry of Defence facility.
