We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety & Environment Manager to join our team.This is a regional role so the successful applicant can be based at any of our sites. You will join on a full time, permanent basisand in return, you will receive a competitive salary plus benefits.Our Health, Safety & Environment Manager is a senior national role reporting to the Civils & Lintels Managing Director, working with the Senior Leadership team and supported by the Group SHEQ Director.You will lead the development and delivery of the health, safety and environment culture across Civils & Lintels through engagement using multiple stakeholders, especially our front line colleagues by establishing a safe and healthy environment for colleagues, customers and all other visitors across the 20 sites throughout England & Wales.As our Health, Safety & Environment Manager you will receive the following benefits: - Fantastic discounted shopping website- Generous staff discount scheme- Range of training and development programmes to help you progress your careerAs our Health, Safety & Environment Manager, your responsibilities will include:- Develop the Health, Safety & Environment Strategy for C & L.- Prepare regular reports on compliance, initiatives, improvements and all other key health and safety activity to the Board, the Group SHEQ Director and key stakeholder groups- Maintain close working relationships with other Group health and safety teams to reduce the potential for conflicting messages, especially at shared business locations.- Coach all managers and colleagues in all aspects of safety, including their own leadership behaviours, their ability to integrate safety and health management into daily operations- Provide expert advice and guidance to senior leaders and management on the implications of current & emerging legislation and best in class health and safety practices, making recommendations to flex and adapt approaches to work within the legislative requirements.- Proactively assess key business health and safety risks and opportunities, monitor and review the reality of current safety and health practices and present your recommendations, plans and progress reports to senior management regularly.- Develop a comprehensive, business-integrated approach to monitoring and action planning to mitigate the impact and likelihood of health and safety risks.- Manage and deliver the safety and health training across Civils & Lintels businesses.- Support the local implementation of the Group Sustainability strategy across the business- Support the Group SHEQ Director in the development of coordinated approaches across Group businesses and ensure these are integrated into Civils & Lintels businesses as appropriate.- Develop, deliver and manage a variety of health and safety performance assessments and measures, manage all business safety and health data and use this to identify trends, recommend improvements, measure progress and celebrate success.- Ensure routine safety and health activities, regular checks, accident/injury reporting and investigations are carried out consistently and to a high standard across the business. Ensure outcomes are documented and communicated.Skills and Experience require of our Health, Safety & Environment Manager: - NEBOSH General Certificate qualification or equivalent- Technical Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH), working towards Graduate Member status- Working at a senior leadership level- Ability to lead initiatives and work on own to resolve site issues through practical solutions- Practical and pragmatic approach to HS&E risk management- Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills- Committed to applying corporate and departmental standards effectively and consistently- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload, working to tight deadlines- Ability to respond quickly to unplanned events and changing work priorities- Competent Microsoft Excel and Word skills- Multi-site experience- Full driver’s licenceIf this is you and you want to be a member of a winning team, delivering a better future for our customers!
