Cardiac Physiologists carry out, or are involved in, diagnostic investigations for patients with different forms of heart disease, including resting ECG’s, 24 hour ECG and BP recording, Exercise Testing, Tilt Testing, Echocardiography, Pacemaker/ICD implant and follow up. The post is a 3 year training post with the possibility of a permanent position once qualified. This is an exciting opportunity to study for a BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology, with a simultaneous salaried training post working with patients in a hospital. In addition to your salary all tuition and examination fees will be paid for.The hospital work will be based in the cardiorespiratory Department at the Royal Bolton Hospital. You will attend block release at Manchester University to gain the BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) degree.You will learn to work with patients of all ages and abilities and to carry out a wide range of diagnostic investigations for the assessment of heart disease.Requirements: • 120 UCAS Tariff Points:A levels – BBB, to include grade C in Biology (including a Pass in A level Biology Practical). General Studies not accepted.Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (1080) in Applied Science – DDMEquivalent qualifications and combinations will be considered, including Extended Project (EPQ) at grade C or above. Other AS levels (or qualifications equivalent to AS level) are not accepted.Specific GCSE RequirementsGCSE grade C/4 in English Language or Level 2 Functional Skills English and GCSE grade C/4 in Mathematics• Excellent organisational skills • Ability to work confidentially within a team and use own initiative • Good IT Skills This post is most suitable to A level school leavers but is also open to graduates with a relevant science background.
