Job Description

Five Education are working with a special school in Bath that supports children with SEMH. We are looking for a teacher to cover a range of subjects such as Humanities, English and Maths. The students will not be working at the expected levels for their ages, so patience and the ability to teach at lower levels whilst keeping the students motivated and engaged is essential.You will need to be flexible and happy to work in a range of classrooms to best support the students. Ideally, you will be able to drive or be happy to take a combination of public transport if youre from outside of Bath (Train and bus or bike).Responsibilities and duties:

  • Leading small classes in a range of lessons
  • Keeping students engaged and motivated
  • Providing lessons at more than one level, meeting the needs of all students in your classes
  • Supporting and guiding teaching assistants where needed
  • Working with other staff members including SENCOs and Teaching Assistants
  • Managing pupil behaviour and implementing behaviour management tools
  • Planning and marking may be necessary if this becomes a long term role
  • Essential Criteria:
  • QTS, induction would be an advantage but may not be essential
  • At least 12 months of teaching experience
  • At least 6 months experience supporting children with SEMH, or other SEND
  • Great behaviour management skills
  • A flexible and resourceful approach
  • Confident to teach a range of subjects
  • Able to give support and direction to teaching assistants
  • Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
  • Two recent child based references and relevant DBS/ Police checks
  • Access to a car would be ideal due to the location
  • Able to work 8.30-3.30 5 days per week term time only
