Job Description

Mpeople Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Purchasing Coordinator on behalf of our client based in Failsworth, Manchester.

  • Salary: £25,000 - £33,000 dependent on experience and skill set
  • Location: Failsworth (M35)
  • Hours: 08:45 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and 08:45 - 15:00 Friday

The Purchasing Coordinator would work within a team of three people, and be responsible for the companys purchasing administration, monitoring and replenishment of stock, and working closely with the sales team to deliver an efficient service.Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating within the detailed processes and systems in current operational use to ensure customer expectations are fulfilled
  • Building strong working relationships with suppliers (UK and worldwide), and negotiating the best prices possible
  • Reviewing stock levels and customer orders to ensure stock levels are adequate to fulfil customer requirements but also in line with company targets
  • Keeping sales team fully informed of stock arrival dates and any amendments e.g. date, quantity, cost etc.
  • Participation in stock takes at various third-party warehouses as part of a wider team
  • Ensuring stock details held on system are correct including lot numbers, expiry dates etc
  • Monitoring stock levels, and replenishing in line with known lead times, sales order requirements, historical usage and forecast information provided by the sales team.
The required traits, skills, and background:
  • Previous experience within a purchasing / stock / buying role is essential - experience of purchasing from order placement through to goods receipt
  • Experience within the manufacturing and distribution sectors would be desirable, and experience working with third party warehouses would be advantageous
  • Effective and professional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Great relationship building and negotiation skills to ensure the best price possible is secured with suppliers
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and numeracy skills
  • Able to multi-task, and remain calm and professional even in a busy environment
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative
  • Experience using SAGE would be advantageous
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred - a lot of stock information is kept on an abundance of spreadsheets connected to SAGE, so a confident working knowledge of Excel is required for this purpose
