Job Description

The UK tourism industry is estimated to be worth over £257 billion by 2025, accounting for just under 10% of UK GDP and supporting almost 3.8 million jobs. Were working with a growing and award-winning tech company that has built a range of products such asonline ticketing, till software, employee scheduling, and website builds, helping over 1,000 Leisure, Tourism, and Events businesses across the globe to thrive and be more efficient.Theyve grown significantly over the last few years and are now looking to recruit a Web Developer to join their digital team. This team focuses on building websites and bespoke booking journeys, optimising them to work seamlessly with the companys other productofferings.What skills and experience youll need:
  • Previous commercial experience in a web development or software team, using PHP, MySQL and the LAMP framework.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of packages with Composer.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Docker, Jenkins or similar.
Bonus points for
  • Experience with TypeScript and Vue.
  • An interest in or previous experience within the leisure/tourism industry.
  • Any knowledge of OpenAPI.
What youll be doing:You will be building responsive websites that integrate seamlessly with the companys online ticketing software to optimise the customer journey, helping to drive increased online ticket sales and generally support a positive customer experience from the firstcontact until post-visit.The client base is varied so you could be building websites for small, local attractions like castles and farms, as well as large, well-known players in the leisure and tourism industry that experience high volumes of web traffic like Stonehenge or the NationalTrust. Some will be long-term projects with clients that need a fully bespoke site or regular updates and changes, and others will be short-term projects.The digital team youll be joining is currently made up of 4 other developers, but theres a wider dev team of around 20 devs across the entire company, so theres plenty of scope for collaboration and idea sharing. The role could be fully remote (within the UK), but theres a preference for someone who would be happy to come into the office in Exeter from time to time.What youll get in return:Youll receive a starting salary of £28k and benefits including: an annual bonus scheme, a generous individual training budget of £2,500 per year to spend on courses or accreditations. There is a departmental activity budget to use towards socials and activities,as well as fully expensed company-wide outings and events. They also hold a monthly raffle with prizes.Youll join the team with 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays and your birthday off, but this will increase by a day a year (up to 30 days) to reward long service, and they also offer loyalty bonuses at different work anniversaries.
