Job Description

Finance AssistantExeter/Hybrid£21,950 per annumOur client, a leading consultancy based in the southwest, is seeking a dynamic Finance Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. Our client values innovative passion, ambition, and collaboration, fostering an environment that encourages new ideas,efficient work methods and development.As a Finance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely posting of financial information. This role offers the opportunity to rotate through various finance teams, including cashiering, purchase ledger, and credit control, providinga well-rounded experience and fostering career development in finance.The ideal candidate should possess a methodical approach, strong interpersonal communication skills and demonstrate proficiency in reconciliation.The responsibilities:

  • Importing daily records of cheques, BACS, and other electronic transfers.
  • Electronically filing remits and correspondence.
  • Allocating cash to the correct sales/purchase invoices in the finance system.
  • Processing customer refunds and returned cheques.
  • Processing employee expenses using finance software, ensuring adherence to the company expense policy and correct VAT reclamation.
  • Generating payment runs using Financial Force, ensuring timely payments of due items.
  • Providing support to the Finance team during busy periods/holidays.
The candidate:
  • Educated to degree level (2:1 or above) with strong A Level and GCSE results
  • Recent experience of working in a busy accounts department.
  • Proactive task management and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Basic Excel skills, with the ability to sort and filter data and use simple formulae.
  • Working understanding of the double-entry accounting principle.
