Work Pattern: Mon-Thurs 8-16.45 Fri 8-16.15 Main Responsibilities Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor (GM), the Multi-skilled Engineer (GM) is a key link between the production and engineering functions.Responsible for driving a Fix 4 Life culture and increasing plant equipment uptime, whilst also ensuring focus is given to maintain efficiency of the sites 24/7 glass production process.The role demands the ability to problem solve and use engineering initiative whilst holding the ability to make decisions and work under pressure in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure the safe completion of reactive & planned mechanical maintenance on all general plant equipment to reduce MTTR in efforts to minimise production down time.
  • Ensure the safe completion of planned maintenance activities on all plant equipment to increase MTBF and achieve >95% PM compliance.
  • Hold the ability to identify and use the appropriate test equipment to diagnose malfunctioning systems and have the ability to fault find and repair to component level.
  • Hold the ability to read and utilise technical information and drawings as an aid for fault finding and machine understanding. Including but not limited to P&ID, SCADA, Process flow diagrams, pneumatic & hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience in welding (Arc, MIG, TIG), mechanical bench fitting and replacing mechanical components. In addition holding the ability to complete fault diagnostics on servo motors, VSDs, fans, valve assemblies, conveying systems and process control systems.
  • Experience working LV AC/DC control systems.
  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all plant equipment during out of office hours.
  • Control and manage spare parts effectively, ensuring correct stock levels of line critical equipment are maintained and that all items utilised are booked from stores, with the appropriate communication given to the relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Support in the management and execution of the engineering ongoing works backlog.
  • Ensure you are health and safety compliant and assist as necessary in the completion of H&S audits, focusing on safe working practices and ensuring adherence toPPE standards and dynamic risk assessments.
Ideal Candidate Essential
  • Time served mechanical engineering technician - Level 3 / ONC / City Guilds qualified.
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of motor gearboxes, conveyor systems and process machinery
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Hold the ability to read schematics, interpret and communicate technical information
Desirable
  • HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering
  • Muilti-Disciplined 70/30 - Electrical/Mechanical with an industry recoedge
  • CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) experience
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques. Kaizen, 8D problem solving, RCA.
  • Gas burner experience
