Job Description

Cambridge are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our Adoption team in Cambridge. As a key member of our adoption services, you will play an integral role in facilitating the adoption process, ensuring the best interests of children,and supporting prospective adoptive families throughout their journey. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to creating stable and loving homes for children in need.Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Matching:
    • Conduct thorough assessments of prospective adoptive families, evaluating their suitability and readiness for adoption.
    • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to identify suitable matches between children and adoptive families.
  2. Support and Counseling:
    • Provide emotional support and counseling to prospective adoptive families, addressing concerns and facilitating understanding of the adoption process.
    • Offer guidance on attachment, bonding, and parenting skills.
  3. Legal Processes:
    • Guide adoptive families through legal procedures, ensuring compliance with adoption regulations and requirements.
    • Collaborate with legal professionals to facilitate the legal aspects of adoption.
  4. Birth Parent Involvement:
    • Facilitate communication and cooperation between adoptive families and birth parents when appropriate.
    • Support birth parents through the adoption process, ensuring understanding and consent.
  5. Post-Placement Support:
    • Provide post-placement support to adoptive families, addressing any challenges and promoting healthy family dynamics.
    • Conduct regular visits to assess the childs adjustment and well-being in the adoptive home.
  6. Training and Education:
    • Organize and conduct adoption-related training sessions for adoptive families, addressing relevant topics such as trauma-informed care and open adoption.
    • Stay informed about current adoption trends, research, and best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work or a related field.
