Job Description

Job Title: Senior Project EngineerLocation: StanlowSalary: Competitive dependant on ExperienceJob Type: Full Time, Permanent (Monday to Friday 8:00 - 16:00)Closing Date: 17th February 2021Argent Energy is the UKs leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer with operations in Scotland and North West England and has always been privately owned. Our main plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005.Following significant investment to facilitate growth and development, a number of facilities have been built in the Stanlow area. We specialise in the production and supply of high grade, sustainable diesel made from waste fats and oils deliberately excluding any raw materials that could also be used for food or feed.Purpose of the Role:You will be an experienced, enthusiastic and independent process engineer who will develop and implement multi-disciplinary projects. Youll join a site team that is highly production focused, while improving the sites safety and environmental performance. And youll also be part of the wider Argent team, supporting projects at our other production sites in Motherwell and Amsterdam. Working as part of the site team, youll use your process engineering and production plant experience to help solve operational issues and optimise production.Where there are bottlenecks, youll develop solutions and implement projects. Projects are principally driven by growth and SHE compliance. They will range in size from small plant modifications to £mln+.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of projects focused on environmental, safety and production improvements. Projects could range from £2mln plant extensions to minor pipework mods for environmental or production improvements
  • Lead projects for other Argent sites when they have high levels of investment. This will require travel to sites in Motherwell and Amsterdam although the role will be based at the Stanlow site
  • Work closely with Argents other sites to improve processes, share knowledge and provide process engineering support where necessary. This will require occasional site visits in the UK and Netherlands
  • For the programmes and projects you lead, measure and report the sites progress and success
  • Use project controls to track and manage schedules, costs and risks. Report these clearly to both Argent and external stakeholders, such as the EA and HSE
  • Work closely with the procurement team to develop and implement contracting strategies - get Argent the best possible value for money
  • Support the site team in trouble-shooting operational issues and optimising plant performance
  • Use the sites management of change process to ensure that all changes are safe, compliant and reliable. You will be a process engineering signatory for the management of change process
  • Deliver projects by developing small teams working closely with Argent, EPCm contractors and our technology licensors
  • Balance the priorities of the project portfolio by working closely with the site management team and communicating clearly

  • Make yourself aware of all Emergency procedures and Responses
  • The Candidate:
  • Chemical Engineering degree, or equivalent, with chartership preferred
  • Continuous Improvement training useful
  • Project Management Qualification or demonstrable experience
  • Experience working in a process plant is essential, with Manufacturing, Process or Chemical background
  • Experience of change management within a challenging environment
  • Proven track record of taking projects from inception to completion on time and within budget
  • Good knowledge of management of change process
  • Excellent facilitation skills to engage a cross-functional team towards a desired outcome
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire actions
  • Commercial acumen with strong business analytical skills
