Senior Design Engineer role working for a growing manufacturing company. The role is based in Ellesmere Port.Client DetailsOur client is a market leading aerospace and defence manufacturing company who is currently going through a progressive growth period.DescriptionThe role supports to the Engineering Manager n the Design Qualification and Certification of defence products, and the provisional technical support for on-going continued airworthiness. The primary focus for the role, is to Lead the Mechanical Design Engineering, Safety, Airworthiness and Certification teams in support of certified product designs to meet the exacting requirements/standards of all customers· Responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the Mechanical Design Engineering, Airworthiness and Certification teams.· Responsible for supporting all mechanical engineering design and qualification and certification efforts for a complex project(s), keeping to schedule and any defined budget.· Supporting role to the Engineering Lead for the review of customer specifications and requirements and assist project team to develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.· Responsible for ensuring design compliance with all project requirements.· Support the team to coordinate test laboratories as necessary to experimentally prove new product developments, and support design reviews.· Support the transition of new products into production.· Maintain comprehensive engineering notes, models, records, calculations, and analyses that demonstrate the progression of the product designs, and encourage team members to follow your example.· Engage in cost estimates for prototype and production parts, support building a business case in support of product development activities.· Evaluate, define and resolve design and manufacturing problems.· Represent the company at Technical Exhibitions and Symposia.· Take responsibility for the management of requirements verification throughout project execution to successfully demonstrate compliance for a Design Declaration of Performance (DDP).· Mentoring others to develop products in accordance with approved Safety Engineering Assurance & Certification practices.· Checking & Approving of Safety documentation; Hazard Log and Safety Assessment Reports in line with ALARP principles and best practice arrangements according to the relevant regulatory requirements.· Travel (both in the UK and overseas) to liaise with customers and suppliers when required and represent the company during off site technical activities.· Perform personal development appraisals for your direct reports..
