Job Description

HSE Advisor - Runcorn - Permanent - £40k - £45k plus package My client are a leading Civils and Infrastructure company who require the services of a HSE advisor to advise site management on all HSE matters and keep the site team appraised of the ongoing HSE performance of their Construction Sites and Projects. Key responsibilities and accountabilities - To advise company Directors and Management on all aspects of HSE including changes in legislation and regulations that may affect operations. - To maintain close liaison with operational staff to ensure safety matters are considered in the planning and implementation of operational activities and that risk assessments are carried out where appropriate. - To assist and advise on the safety training needs of the Northern England Division and ensure such training is recorded and validated. - To lead incident investigations with a view to suggesting improvements to work practices and preventing recurrence. - To keep records and statistics and provide information and reports in respect of the Northern England Division safety performance. - To advise on protective equipment requirements and to encourage the use of such equipment. - To ensure that the necessary systems are in place to ensure safety in the use of movement, handling, storage and transport of all materials and the disposal of waste. - To ensure the potential impact of the introduction of new plant and processes has been properly assessed and complies with all legal requirements, relevant standards and codes of practice. - To organise and deliver toolbox talks and give instruction assisted by Northern England Division management on safe systems of working, employee responsibilities, and ensure safety rules and regulations are in place and being fully implemented. - To participate in the Company and Client Safety Meetings. Quality Management System Job Description - Help maintain and improve our HSE culture through the provision of any advice and assistance and the sharing of best practice. - To perform internal verification duties for training and assessment events. HSE responsibilities - Carry out safety inspections and report results ensure that employees receive adequate feedback on the outcome. - Develop and Review Suitable and Sufficient Safe Systems of Work. Including the development of CoSHH, HAVS and Manual Handling Assessments. - Investigate potential hazards, Incidents and dangerous occurrences at the work sites. Examine the causes of accidents and report to Northern England Division management team and HSE Manager. Ensure adequate Root Cause Analysis is carried out when this is required. - Co-operate with the company in compliance with H&S legislation. - Comply with the companys policies and procedures at all times and lead by example. - Promote company policies and procedures to site staff. - Pass on HSE information on safety best practise to site staff. - Monitor safety performance of site staff and promote improvements where appropriate. - Report to the Northern England Division management team on safety performance. - Liaise with client site staff when required. Minimum Requirements: - Possess a CSCS Card. - Possess a formal HSE and Construction recognised HSE Qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Certificate as a Minimum requirement). - Ideally have experience working within operational CoMAH sites. - Demonstrate ability to obtain and distribute up to date HSE information. - Have the ability to successfully work independently and also autonomously. - Demonstrate knowledge of working with external authorities like SEPA, HSE, and Local Authority etc. - Hold current UK Driving Licence.
