Job Description

Assistant Management AccountantPermanent Full TimeWirral (Office based role)Our client based on the Wirral are looking to recruit a key member of their small team to be in a pivotal role providing timely and accurate information in the day to day running of the finance team. The successful person will have proven experience in improvingprocesses and efficiencies in the business. This role will be supported by the Group Accountant to develop and implement new policies and procedures and will also offer support to develop and progress with a study package also offered.The role:

  • Cash Management- Inputting and overseeing the banking transactions are correct in the system and bank reconciliations daily/weekly/monthly. Daily cash reporting for the Group and producing a 12-week cashflow forecast in different currencies
  • Monthly Management Accounts- Production of Management Accounts including, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, stock valuation, COS and overhead analysis, interest and Gross Margin reporting. Reconciling all control accounts at the end of each month aspart of management accounts reporting produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations against TB. Ensuring intercompany balances are reconciled and both weekly/monthly reporting
  • Credit Control- Chase debts, highlight potential bad debts, produce weekly & monthly report of overdue debts with commentary
  • Purchase Ledger- Support the processing of purchase ledger invoices in line with month-end deadlines and produce weekly payment run
  • Budgets/Forecasts- Assist with the budget process, completing overhead templates and comparing actual costs against budget
  • Statutory Reporting -Support the Group Accountant in providing information, provide analysis file for the Auditors and support the Group Accountant with the Monthly/Quarterly VAT returns to HMRC deadlines
  • Systems - Identify improvements to be made within the day-to-day process in the finance function, utilising SAP and automating process through the systems development
The Ideal Candidate:
  • AAT qualified or hold a relevant degree qualification
  • Studying towards CIMA or ready to start studying
  • Have Manufacturing & Engineering sector experience which is desirable
  • A team player in a small office with a can do attitude
  • Able to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving
  • Excel skills - Good understanding of pivot and formulas is essential
