Job Description

Cedar is exclusively recruiting for a Group Business Analyst for a leading international business with operations around the globe and employs around 30,000 people. This is a pivotal role within the group financial reporting team to ensure accurate and timelyfinancial reporting for the group. The current requirement is to work from the office 3 days a week.Duties

  • To be the key point of contact for the North America and Rest of World regions for monthly actuals reporting and to work with the rest of the Group Financial Reporting team to produce the regular internal monthly reports for the Group. This will involvereviewing country submissions, resolving issues, writing commentary and explaining movements. The regular reporting requirements include monthly management accounts, a briefing document with commentary, Flash accounts, and trading performance reports.
  • To take ownership of the Trading Performance Report and the key metrics. To answer queries on the integrity of the report and to ensure it is fit for purpose each month. To be seen as the expert on the calculations behind the metrics.
  • To assist with external reporting including the Group statutory accounts and year end audit. This may involve preparing statutory disclosures, preparing audit schedules, and checking the accounts.
  • To have strong knowledge of IFRS and be able to support the countries when we need to implement a new accounting standard or when we make an acquisition or disposal. Provide advice on the most appropriate accounting for new transactions or events.
  • To support the country finance teams with any accounting queries and help them to understand the group reporting requirements. Development will come from working more closely with country finance teams to understand the operational challenges and how theseare reflected in the results.
  • To own the annual pack to stats rec for the North America and Rest of World regions and be the overall lead on this exercise for the team and coordinate and track progress to ensure the deadline is met. This is a key control that ensures countries are reportingconsistent results into the Corporate Centre and externally in their local statutory accounts.
  • Improve reports to make them more automated or clearer, implement new reports to improve controls over the integrity of numbers or perform analysis to better understand the numbers from the countries. Assist with documenting our processes and policies.
  • There will also be a need to communicate openly and clearly with Tax, Treasury, external auditors and senior finance managers in other central teams. There may be a need to balance the different priorities of these stakeholders.
Opportunities
  • The Group Financial Reporting team will be able to offer a broad range of experience focused on technical and financial accounting that will support a qualified accountant looking to develop.
  • Sometimes roles arise in the other Corporate Centre finance teams and the successful candidate may in time want to move into FP&A or the Corporate Services or Regional Finance teams.
Experience Required
  • Qualified accountant with appropriate post qualified experience.
  • Have worked in a central consolidation team or have strong knowledge of consolidations and Group reporting requirements.
  • Have worked with multiple stakeholders and have a proven track record of building strong relationships (often with people that youve never met face to face).
  • Experience of explaining reports to external auditors and preparing backup schedules.
  • Worked with large scale multinational businesses.
  • Experience of working with and reporting to senior management
  • Strong understanding of IFRS. Able to apply accounting standards and explain requirements.
