Job Description

Summary of Role: Support Property Management & Building/Facilities Team in the daily operation of a North London Cultural Venue.Dynamic role blending caretaker/handyman skills and cleaning tasks.Essential: Experience in cleaning both offices and industrial/ warehouse style buildings, basic handyman skills, waste management, use of cleaning equipment, such as floor machine, leaf blower, etc..use of basic power tools appropriate for the roleWe are seeking a proactive team member to join the facilities and building team in supporting them with keeping the venue clean, organised and maintained as well as responding to adhoc duties and support.Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To carry out a range of duties to provide for the general cleanliness and maintenance of the venue.
  • Carry out cleaning duties including, but not limited to dust & damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, spot cleaning windows, toilet cleaning, corridor sweeping and mopping, litter picking, emptying indoor and outdoor bins, and using floor machine in the eventspaces and the offices and meeting rooms
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the offices and office kitchen. Loading and unloading the dishwasher, cleaning the worktops, cupboards and floors, cleaning the fridges and microwave and all eating areas
  • Assist with meeting room set-ups, tidying & room management
  • Covering reception as & when required.
  • Opening of venue at specified rota time & being a listed key holder and to assist the Building Manager in ensuring adequate cover is available during absences.
  • To undertake minor repairs within agreed levels of competency as agreed with the Building Manager.
  • To comply with all health and safety regulations including undertaking necessary checks of the building and equipment under the direction of the Building Manager and to report back if there are any areas of concern.
  • Able to work after hours, or on weekends, to support additional venue events or third party facility hire. This will be paid as additional, per hour, or as time off in lieu.
You’ll need to have
  • Previous experience as a cleaner and caretaker
  • Qualification / Health & Safety training
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Desirable: Working at Heights, COSHH, Manual Handling
  • Desirable: Previous experience in an events venue
Knowledge / Skills Able to work under direction
  • Use of tools and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Thoroughness and ability to work to pre-set timescales
  • Good attitude to work and able to undertake basic repair work to venue fixtures and fittings within area of competence
  • Know the basic principles of site management
  • Know the importance of Health & Safety
  • Pride in cleaning and preparing spaces for people
  • Techniques for the repair of damaged or defective equipment or resources
  • Positive relationship with building team, tenants and third party hirers
  • Organised & Flexible
  • Works well with others and able to work as a member of a team
  • Caring and enthusiastic
  • Be aware of confidentiality at all times
