Principal Test Systems Design EngineerEdinburgh12 MonthContract/Permanent - Rate/Salary depending on level of experienceDue to security requirements for this position this is open to UK NATIONALS ONLYOur client has a global presence within the Aerospace, Defence and Security and offer a wide range of defence and security solutions to governments, institutions and citizens and are seeking a Principal Design Engineer to be part our clients Defence Electronics team. You will design and develop complex test solutions for Radar Systems. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplined team with responsibility across the full Engineering Lifecycle from requirements capture to final delivery. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join a very capable team in a growing engagement.Key Responsibility AreasDesign and development across the full lifecycle from requirements analysis; through conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, procurement and manufacturing support; to integrating the hardware with the hosted software and firmware; and lastly to acceptance test and delivery to the customerAs a Principal Design Engineer, you are responsible for creating high quality and robust data packs; for fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management and providing plans and reports on progress to your line managerYou will work closely with Software and Firmware engineers to solve real integration problems at system levelEssential Skills:* Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering / related science or equivalent work experience* Adaptable and innovative-embracing new initiatives and how to transfer them into service capabilities* Ability to analyse system level documents and derive detailed Unit requirements under own initiative* Experience of de-bugging and testing new designs and supporting module and system related test, verification and integration project phases as required by a development type programme prior to system deliveries* Ability to work on own or as part of a team to resolve technical issues* Methodical and thorough approach to hardware designDesirable Skills:Experience of designing solutions for one or more of the following technologies would be beneficial:* Radio Frequency/Microwave/Antenna* Digital and/or Analogue* Power Supplies* High Speed Digital Interfacing* Common interfaces i.e. RS422, 1553, I2C/SPI, EthernetHighly desirable skills (not essential to apply):In addition, experience of high level programming in one or more of the following development environments would be an advantage:* National Instruments TestStand* National Instruments LabWindows CVI* National Instruments LabVIEW / LabVIEW FPGA* Knowledge of Requirements management tools such as DOORSRef: 837983 Advantage Resourcing is a service driven recruitment consultancy.
