Job Description

The Opportunity:Level 3 qualified Technician required from rail, marine, automotive, aerospace, army or similar backgrounds to apply their skills on an interesting tram modification depot. You will work as part of a team to ensure the fleet of trams is maintained as expectedand all defects/issues are prevented from showing up again.The Situation:Due to a line extension between York Place and Newhaven, technicians are required to provide technical preventative maintenance to improve a fleet of trams; conducting overhauls and repairs on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Location (s): EdinburghRole and Responsibilities

  • Remove components for overhaul, install and test overhauled components in accordance to maintenance instructions.
  • Fault finding and preventative repairs
  • Carry out overhauls and internal repairs of assets in accordance to overhaul and repair procedures.
  • Assist the Corrective Technicians in more complex fault finding as required.
  • Assist with recovery of vehicles during operational incidents as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Remove components for overhaul, install and test overhauled components in accordance to maintenance instructions.
  • Carry out maintenance inspections to depot equipment in accordance to instructions.
The CandidateThe ideal candidate will have worked in a similar position within Rolling Stock, aerospace, trams, automotive or marine.Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Able to follow engineering drawings and use a variety of hand tools
  • Rolling stock, trams, aerospace, or marine experience
  • Full UK driving licence
